25 weeks - only 15 fridays left

Jake and I have been working on getting back into the swing of things now that we are back from Mexico. For me the last couple weeks have been very busy at work and I am trying to fit in some baby preparation and holiday shopping now. Next month will be VERY busy with birthing classes every Saturday for the first three weeks and then Christmas. Luckily Jake and I are making some progress on the baby's room and slowly purchasing the necessary baby gear.

I am getting bigger now, here is the latest picture:

I can feel the baby moving around a bunch and occasionally you can feel it from the outside, though Jake has yet be around for it. I have been fortunate to not have much discomfort, headaches or heartburn in the last few weeks. Just two more weeks and I am into the third trimester!

Jake is starting to prepare for the 2009 bike racing season. He starts fairly slowly by building up his riding and throwing in some light weight training. I am sad to be off the bike but for now it is the best thing since my balance could be off. Hopefully, we can work out a schedule that allows Jake to get all his racing in since he worked so hard on the backyard last summer.

Mexico

So we are back from Mexico and it was great! Jake, Chuck, my dad and Cal all went fishing two of the days we were there and man did they enjoy it. The first day was only mildly successful in the morning but the second day was a big one. Jake caught a few fish...

Here Jake is with his the durado he caught...

and with his sailfish.

Chuck also had success as you can see by his durado.

My dad was keen on watching the boys pull the fish in and, after recovering from slight sea sickness in the morning, he was there with the camera when needed.

My mom, Judy and I were content to soak up some rays and sip limonada back by the pool. During the times when they were not fishing we all went into Puerto Vallarta and to Sayulitas to see the sights. As with all our previous trips to Mexico, the food was great, the people were friendly and the weather was hot.

Following our trip we got to see our baby in our 20 week ultrasound. We did not find out the baby's gender but it was nice to see the little one and know that things are on track. Now that it is nearly November and the holidays are approaching our schedule will be rather full with holiday activities and preparing for the baby. Up until the ultrasound I was trying hard not to go nuts since we were still far out and I was afraid something may go wrong. Now that things look good and the months have begun flying by I will have to get on top of the preparations.

October 17th, 2008

Last night while I was getting a manicure/pedicure (believe it or not it is already a bit harder to get down to my toes) I felt a definite bursting feeling in my stomach. It is the first time that I have felt the baby move that strongly. I have yet to feel a kick but it is really nice to feel strong movement.

Jake and I are taking off for Mexico early on Sunday and we are really looking forward to it. Hopefully we will avoid the post-vaction blues because we will have our big ultrasound the day after we get back. It is not as big of a deal for us since we don't plan to find out he sex of the baby but seeing our little one in 3D and confirming that all is well is VERY exciting.
